The Poet Behind the Pages…
“Poetry called to me many years ago. I started writing poetry in lockdown during 2020 at the age of seventeen and I haven’t stopped since. It’s truly an amazing outlet - a good way to express my feelings and also a lovely art form. The art of words is always something that appealed to me, and so did playing with the expectations of the genre of poetry by purposefully dabbling in literary cliches.
But also because I believe that there is something truly beautiful in the common topics of poetry. Roses, stars, love, emotions, the human disposition - all of it.
The more I wrote the more I realised that the story of my life could be expressed through rhyme.
So that’s how I told my story. Via poetry.
Aside from how I’m a poet, I am also a soft-natured individual who enjoys gallivanting in nature and admiring its many flowers under the fresh spring sunshine and strumming my guitar casually all the while having no intention to actually learn it. Attached to your right is a picture of me on my guitar. I hope you like it!
Homage
Of course all artists have their inspirations. I believe that no piece of art is truly fully original, they are all inspired by someone or something that came before them, and I am no different when it comes to this.
I enjoyed studying poetry at college during my A-Levels and particularly enjoyed the poetry of Christina Rossetti. I like to think my tendency to write about religion and the afterlife and also my style of writing mostly in strict rhyme-schemes comes from how I am inspired by Rossetti’s poetical works.
